Delta Spotlight - Nicole Simmonds

Thrilled at joining Delta Insurance and eager to contribute to a dynamic company with an excellent reputation, Nicole Simmonds is a seasoned insurance professional with a long career and reputation for supporting broker success. Taking on the role of Senior Underwriter at our Sydney office, Nicole embarked on her insurance journey in 2000 after a stint in the travel and tourism industry. Initially starting in health insurance, she soon transitioned to general insurance and steadily climbed the ladder to become a Senior Packages Underwriter with a prominent insurer.

Like many in the industry, Nicole admits she ‘simply fell into it’, it wasn’t always easy. “I did question my life choices in the first six months as it was all a bit confusing and challenging,” she laughs. However, perseverance paid off and her talent for the industry shone. Over the years, she has left her mark primarily in commercial, business, and small business underwriting. Joining the Financial Lines team at Delta Insurance presents an exciting new chapter as she seeks to harness her extensive broker networks and introduce innovative underwriting solutions to the market.

With a constant eye on helping brokers grow their businesses, Nicole enjoys the variety of engaging with businesses and organisations of all kinds while fitting occupations, industries, risks, liabilities and strengths to appropriate insurance products. Relishing the human side of the business, she believes in establishing and nurturing long-term relationships based on mutual value creation. Her factors for success include comprehensive product knowledge, understanding underwriting risks, and establishing a personal brand by being consistently available for every broker.

Recognising Delta as an up-and-coming underwriter with substantial growth prospects in the Australian market, Nicole appreciates a refreshing approach and can-do attitude of a challenger brand and is looking forward to being an integral part of expanding the company and making a difference.

Outside of her professional life, Nicole is a devoted mother to two teenagers. She serves as the perpetual chauffeur for their various sporting activities and, from her family home at the base of the Blue Mountains, she enjoys regular bush walks and occasional outings on the Stand Up Paddleboard on the river.
