Delta Spotlight - Jacqui Warwick, Underwriting Manager

Jacqui Warwick can say something only few others can: she has been with Delta Insurance Australia since the very beginning.

Australian founder and director Steve Carey brought the star underwriting manager in September 2021, shortly after he took up the role to bring the company to the local market.

Looking back on it now, Jacqui has the sense it was meant to be.

“I always knew what my next level and career steps would be, but I didn’t know how I was going to get there,” she says.

“Delta is how.”

It has been a whirlwind 12 months for Jacqui, especially in the lead-up to the launch.

“I think the hardest part was deciding on a date where we would just take the plunge and say ‘here we are’,” Jacqui says.

“It was very exciting to make that announcement and incredibly overwhelming to see the support from our brokers and network partners. I was quite surprised. The market has definitely welcomed a new underwriting agency to the market.”

Jacqui says it feels like the Australian market was looking for something different.

“Our brokers have been really flexible with us, but we’ve also sought their input to ensure we’re providing the products they need,” she says.

“We would not have been able to get as much done in such a small amount of time without them.”

For Jacqui, that all comes down to culture. The experienced underwriting manager knows how important it is to a business, both internal and externally. It’s the thing she loves most about her work with Delta.

“You can’t deliver for your clients without the right people and the right culture,” she says.

“Delta really does put its people first, and the fact it has such a low turnover of staff really speaks to the fact it’s a place people want to work.”

Despite her years of experience, Jacqui says she has learnt a lot in her time at Delta, as she moves more into the product development space.

“It has been a huge personal achievement taking that next step up,” she says.

“It is a wonderful feeling creating a product that’s not only a great one for our customers, but that also aligns with Delta’s values.

“The reason we can do that comes back to our culture and the quality of relationships with our network partners, lawyers and even brokers.

“We get feedback from them to ensure what we’re going to deliver is going to work for them.”

Jacqui looks forward to her future with the Delta group and growing the Delta Insurance Australia brand.
