Delta Spotlight - Courtney Clout

With experience on ‘two sides of the same coin’ Courtney Clout has worked in insurance both as a broker and an underwriter at various times in her career. Along with her enthusiasm and infectious attitude, this positions her perfectly as a motivated operations manager who makes sure things get done, fast, accurately, and efficiently every time.

First coming into the industry in 2016 as a broker assistant, Courtney quickly worked her way up into underwriting – in the travel industry. When the pandemic struck and there weren’t too many flights going anywhere, it looked like her days in insurance were limited.

Which was fine, as Courtney didn’t particularly fancy the stress of risk management. But when Steve Carey came a-calling with an offer to join a growing business, put her experience to good use, and not have to deal with the stress of underwriting, she was sold. Initially starting as office administrator, her demonstrable knowledge of the broker world and underwriting have made Courtney a real asset as she works to keep the machinery of Delta Insurance running smoothly.

Her goals are to understand what brokers want from an underwriting agency, then make sure Delta is the easiest and best to work with. She’s played an invaluable role in building the broker portal drawing on her experience with operations systems, helps with accounts management and compliance, gets involved in staff training, and contributes to the development of the technology and systems that keeps Delta running smoothly every day. Her big bugbear is ‘resistant forces’ which stop things happening – no meetings about meetings, and more execution is her mantra. Looking to make her mark in an ambitious and growing company, Courtney loves enabling a team of motivated go-getters.

Outside of the office, Courtney is passionate about her Golden Retrievers Ruby and Doug – though she laughs the dogs are both the bane and joy of her existence – and loves working from her hometown in the Northern Rivers of NSW.
